World Book Online Blizzard Quest

We have been learning how to use World Book Online. To further our understanding, this week we are going to do a World Book Online Info Quest. This means we will use World Book Online Kids and World Book Online Student to answer the questions below. Once you find the answers, you will post the questions and answers in the comment section below.

Since we had our first snow of the new year this weekend and had a snow day this week, I thought it would be appropriate to do our quest on blizzards. World Book Online lists a blizzard as "a blinding snowstorm with strong, cold winds," cold temperatures go along with the snow and wind.

Go to World Book Kids

Type in Blizzard in the search box to go to the article. Answer the questions below.

1. What are large piles of snow called?

2. To be considered a blizzard how fast must the wind be blowing?

3. Why is driving dangerous during a blizzard?

Go to World Book Students

4. How much snow did Boston get in 2015? (Hint: Look under Back in Time articles in the Related Information tab.)

5. How many magazine articles are listed under Related Information?

Post your answers in the comment section below.

Think About It: Would you consider the snow storm this past weekend a blizzard?
